Min: Cancelled benefit for 4G not to raise prices above inflation

MOSCOW, Nov 1 (PRIME) -- The abolition of the beneficial rate for 4G use will not hike connection tariffs above inflation for Russians, Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadayev told reporters on Wednesday.

“We have had a beneficial rate for payment for the LTE use at 0.1 since 2011. This rate stimulates penetration of new technologies, while LTE is certainly not a new technology. In this sense we are mulling an increase of the payment,” Shadayev said.

The minister does not think the move will raise the tariffs and the operators may abandon some frequencies, for example the 700 MHz band.

Shadayev said that calculations of the amounts the operators will pay for LTE are in progress.
